Even today, most thinking of starting a selling business have in mind a store, the old brick and mortem mold where you had to have a place to display your inventory.
You need no lease, you need no money for a lease, and you need no gamble on a lease.
You would not believe how much easier it is to get in business and how less risky it is then even ten years ago.
You do not need inventory.
Let me give you an example. Watch the attached video, it is an example of a business started and still run still with almost NO owned inventory.
Let us call this selling consignment inventory. Let us say you have a plastic factory and they make widgets. Every now and then they have huge overruns for one reason or another or a customer does not pay for production and they are stuck with it. They have no use for it no market for It.
They want it sold. They want it gone. They do not care if they have to give you a 95% discount and you have 90 days to get it out of the warehouse. They do not need or expect their money ‘til you get it out of there. They just want assurance; you know the business of unloading this sort of stuff.
Your business is disposing of unwanted inventory. You sell gobs, you never own it you never touch it, others ship it for you, and you are in the selling business.
How you do it is another story and we can explain it, fun. And wheeling and dealing challenge and you never have any overhead doing it if you have web capability. Dealing with tens of thousands of dollars annually, worse case, if you fail, you lost only your effort you have NO money involved.
Now back to the video example. There are many charities in every town and they have the capability of giving out tax credits for donations.
This is just for ideas, I have not checked this out, but this occurs to me. Let’s say the Society for preservation of Wong Fu memorial, has an ongoing fund drive, their charity thing is donate your old car to them. They have the ability to do this but no way to dispose of these cars.
They have no one that has the slightest clue as to what these cars donated to them and sitting in their donated vacant lot are worth and it is imposable to manage.
Along comes you, Charity Clunkers, You dispose of them for them, you assure them you will get maximum dollar and you may do some repairs etc that come off the top and you split all income. They do nothing but store the car on their lot till you want it. You are their partner in disposing of these cars donated to charity. Maybe 25% you sell to the junk yard, but you know where and who to wrecker and moves 'em around for you.
You need to start Charity Clunker, a cell phone...
Contact number to reach you in the window. Want to leave your car, call for appointment to drop it off.
Phone and call a few locals with car ads, and car for sale signs in their car windows, notices on craigslist and all the other free media you can find along with a web page explaining the service to refer them to, which all of course has your phone number. Hand out cards to everyone you know that either has a car to sell or knows someone who does. You could make it free to park pay only on sale etc. You could try $10 a week to park no charge on sale or whatever you decide... The folks I wrote about were offering and had some franchises that essentially learned from them what worked best.
Just another idea generator to get you out of the old I need money to start a car lot, or any other kind of a sale.

We sell nothing.
We may link you to information sites that do, but that is incidental, we do that only because we think they have information you may find useful.
We do get income from Google ads, which they decide what runs and it pays our internet bills. Keeps the internet press
running, (pays the ISP).
But stop trying to figure out what we are pushing or selling, cause we are not. We are a 42 year publishing family, switching to the internet. Hoping we can help thousands more then our many small newspaper editions ever did.
Got a question, contact us personally anytime....anything we have researched or been through, we are glad to answer questions about our conclusions and views. You should find them time saving and helpful.
