Nothing worse than inheriting a buggy whip factory after the automobile came out. Starting a traditional business today is no different.
They are obsolete and not where it is at, and like inheriting the buggy whip factory you could work your heart out to make something survive that is already dead before you even started it.
Get you’re thinking up geared to today and reality. The more money you have to start a business the more likely the bigger "get going problem" and the greater the odds you will never be able to get back out with your start money, let alone make money.
Business today is people, not brick and mortar buildings. Not rooms full of file cabinets a lap top will beat it out just fine.
The downtown building full of file cabinets, the display sales room, printing press, the centralized employee force, traditional advertising, it is all dead.
The more of the obsolete you are tied into the more you will be sentenced to support to try to make the more and more unworkable, work.
You will waste part of your life beating on what is a dead horse, trying to make it come to life and to work for you because it was supposed to work, it had always worked.
You will try and try to recoup your foolish investment with yours and others money in what you will realize sooner or later was the "What Was", business world of the past.
What counts now is the customer. If you develop a way to identify and then build a relationship on going with the customer, and/or the ability to identify who is a customer and identify the right time, the customer need peaks. Know what the customer wants and needs, be able to see they get when they want, where they want it and at the right price.
Control that and you have a growing prospering business. Everything else is unnecessary burden you can leave to others...
