Ideas, That Work, Find What Others Are Doing Independent Business In Another City that Has Already Been Tried and Is Working. Duplicate In Your Town
Read articles daily on what someone else is doing in other cities. Find out the details and if this new business idea could be adopted to work in your town.
Sign up for Google’s information sent to you daily on your subject for free. What your subject is would be "laid off starts business" or laid off starts might be enough... Do another one called maybe New Start Up business. You think of word combinations that gets your ideas that others may have missed.
You can get as many of these alerts on your subject with several different key words.
Go to Google, click on more....then Google Alerts, home page. Enter the search terms and daily. You will receive in your email daily every news item that has those search term words you list in it. Half will be of total no use likely, but there will be ideas that you never would have thought of, that somebody is doing and has or is about to test the feasibility.
If it is a big success, they likely will have no problem if you use the idea in your city, because it does not affect them at all. In fact, will likely be flattered someone else found their idea valuable.
Everybody I learned from on new ideas over the years, I tried to repay by giving them ideas back from my experience later that they never thought of.
One of my businesses that I will be telling you about fell on hard times and a person I had taught how to do it in another city had fell on the same hard times, and he had figured out a "no cost" ingenious solution he shared with me that essentially saved my business. I never would have thought of it in a million years.
If I had not learned that back from him, I would have gone out of business. I was more then repaid for helping him for free to learn how to do in other cities what I was doing.
He never had asked we me "what I would charge him to teach him," (he knew how to be a buyer) he asked if I would share some things he needed to know to do what I was doing, so, so he could do it in other cities. Had said he thought what I had worked out and had going was ingenious. (Flattery got my attention).
The only thing I asked was he not tell any trade secrets to anyone else without my okay, because I did not want the information to wind its way back to some competitor in my city learning what I taught him.
When I have gone to other cities or called and explained what I was trying to do in my city, what he was doing in his city and wondered if he would mind sharing some questions on things I had not solved in starting the business, they always said, fine and shared with me and I, over time, tried to share back.
Therefore when you see some interesting idea and you need details on how it is working out, call and ask, tell them you are wondering if they thought it might work in my city and what did I need, etc., etc.
Look up everything you can find on them and their new business idea on the web, etc.
See if being used anywhere else, he may not know that.
Maybe you can find others that have started something similar in other towns and you can be a collection point of information on the subject, so when you do talk to people in the business you can already share back what you know they do not know.

The secret here is to get in on ideas before everybody else does and yours is rolling before anyone else even gets started in your locality.
