You are unemployed for the most simple of reasons -- because you're former employer can no longer currently for whatever reason, sell retail, your (output) work he buys from you
(Rented indentured slave, part of your life) wholesale, and sell it profitably at retail.
Maybe he can claim wrong economic times, the wrong types of products, sales or services not in adequate demand right now or anymore (may never again be).
That you're last employer was having to compete with a newly, differently functioning. Market place that has moved but the employer has not moved in time to keep up.
The result unable to include with the new changes, any ability to making a profit on your services.
Or… for the same reasons your former employer has gone out of business or.... is on the verge of doing so etc...
You could have been part of a downsizing attempt to turn it around in time.

You are so attached to the "Job is where it is at concept," you will have a lot of difficulty adjusting to the very idea, that
"Jobs" are where it was.
You are like the 5 time divorcee who just won’t listen to the fact that marriages have changed, so she buys a wash and wear wedding gown and just "keeps trying".
That the option consideration to replace a missing job, is the traditional start ups and franchises, and still believe that they are what you need to start a business, and fail to recognize that is not the people that are making BIG money today self employed and in the future.
